Welcome to Instrumental Music at Antheil Elementary School!

Mrs. Melanie Mayerson, Instrumental Music Teacher

Instrumental Music is open to fourth and fifth grade students at AES. Registration occurs at the beginning of each school year.

During the first week of school, all fourth grade students attend an information session to learn about the program. Any student who is interested in participating is given additional instructions and necessary forms to register.

The skills your child will learn in music will help them be successful on the stage, in the classroom, and for the rest of their lives. Students will practice and build their responsibility, teamwork and commitment skills.  Many students "find their place" in instrumental music. It allows students to build strong, positive, and healthy relationships with their peers. And, it's fun!

This is a pull-out program. Each week, students will receive one 40-minute small group lesson. Lessons are on a rotating schedule, typically students will not miss the same class within a 4 week period. Students will also participate band or orchestra classes with approximately 30 students.

  • Instruments, materials, supplies, and accessories are provided free of charge.

  • Students are held to high expectations, home practice is required.

  • Lots of performance opportunities throughout elementary, middle and high school. Fourth graders will perform in the spring concert in June. Fifth graders will perform in both winter and spring concerts.
